Setting up a prompt which includes a threshold
Introduction
We have added functionality to allow you to provide a prompt, if the user declares an ending float that is different than the starting float, when ending the day. There is also an option to add a threshold amount to provide different messages depending on how big the difference is.
This Quick Reference Guide (QRG) covers how to set up your database and has examples of the messages.
Initial database setup
Within Admin > Tills > Edit there are now 3 new settings:
How you set these values will depend on how you want the prompt to work.
Setting up a standard prompt
If you enter a value into the Admin > Tills > Edit > Float Threshold Discrepancy Prompt then you will receive a standard prompt whenever there is any difference between the declared start float and end float. No prompt will be received if there is no difference:
In the below screenshots you can see that there is a difference between the start float and the end float that we have declared:
When declaring these values we will receive the following prompt:
Please note, this prompt is only received when using the ‘Declare Now’ option.
Setting up a prompt which includes a threshold
Using this set up, you can provide different prompts depending on the difference between the declared end float and the start float. In order to do this, you will need to enter values into all three fields:
With the above settings, we will receive the message entered into the ‘Float discrepancy prompt’ field, whenever our declared float is within the value entered into the ‘Float threshold’ of our start float.
If the difference between our start and end float is more than the threshold value, we will receive the message entered into ‘Threshold over/under’. If the float is the same, no prompt will be received.
This screenshot shows the ‘Float discrepancy prompt’ being received as our declared float is within the threshold, which we have set, of our start float:
In these screenshots we have received the ‘Threshold over under’ message as the difference between the declared float and the start float is greater than the threshold value:
Note: as with the standard set up, the prompt will only be received if choosing the ‘Declare Now’ option.
