Introduction
This document is a brief instruction manual on the Label Editor, Label generator and Label Printer functionality of Cybertill. It assumes that the reader has some basic familiarity with the system and is comfortable with the creation of products.
What is Label Editor?
Label Editor is where you go to edit the contents of your Cybertill barcode labels. You can set up several different label layouts (each one representing different label sizes and/or contents) here. Later, when you go to print labels out from Cybertill, you’ll be able to specify which label layout you wish to use.
Note: Retailers who have no intention of using Cybertill to print out barcode labels need not read this User Manual.
Accessing and Editing Labels
- Log onto the Cybertill Back Office and select the Admin menu.
- Navigate to the Labels section and click on Label Editor.
You will now be presented with a screen which shows all your label template types.
Select the Edit menu for the relevant template you wish to edit.
The examples below are the ‘64mm x 38mm’ labels.
Once you have selected the Edit menu, the Label contents will be presented to you in 2 columns and numerous rows. Customers tend to favour 4 rows maximum in order that the labels don’t appear too cluttered with information.
Select a row to edit by clicking on the relevant row number.
The example below demonstrates clicking on the ‘Row1’.
- Click on ‘Row 1’ and the following screen will appear allowing you to determine what fields you would like to appear in Row 1.
You will notice the contents of the Row is highlighted in yellow on the label template.
The first option to choose from is a Data Item dropdown menu. This is where you would select the specific ‘Data item’ you wish to display in this part of the Label.
There is a long list of options to choose from. Some of these include; ‘Free Text’, ‘Brand’, ‘Barcode’, ‘Item Reference’, ‘Manufacturers Reference’, ‘Store Price’, ‘RRP’, ‘Item Name’ or ‘Styles’.
From the Display As: field,
- specify how you display the Data Item from the dropdown menu.
There are 3 fields available here: ‘Text’, ‘Barcode’ and ‘Price’.
Select the relevant option depending on the type of Item Data you wish to display in the row.
The Text Size dropdown field is designed to allow you different font sizes maybe to highlight a particular field on the label such as Store Price.
Text Align allows you to specify ‘Left’, ‘Centre’ or ‘Right’ alignment. This option is relevant if you have enabled an additional column in your Label and you don’t want data items being squashed up on your label.
Text Weight is simply whether you wish any Data Item text to be ‘Normal’ or ‘Bold’. Again, you choose to highlight particular text using this option.
Text Decoration provides you with the facility to ‘Underline’ or ‘Strikethrough’ Data Items such as Store Prices. You may wish to show the old price with a strikethrough then display the new price in the next column across. You may also highlight Data Items with an Underline.
The Text Size Points field can be used to enter your text size. This will override the value entered into the Text Size field. You can also set a greater size using this option, as Text Size only goes up to ‘5’ or ‘Ultrafont’.
The Pre Text field allows you to type free text which will precede or follow Item Data in a particular field.
Example: you could enter in the word ‘only’ into this field. This allows the label to show the store price field but also display your free text before or after it. ‘only £12.50’.
Once you are happy with your selections,
▪ select the Save Label Row located to the bottom left of the menu.
The screen will refresh and provide an updated version of the label you have edited. You may edit the label as many times as you wish until you are happy with the format.
Note: Remember to save each row as you edit it
You may continue this process for as many rows as you like by clicking on the row number, though it is advised to keep within 4 rows to avoid a ‘cluttered’ label. You also need to be aware of your actual label sizes and how the format will look once printed.
You will have noticed that when you selected Label Editor from within the Admin menu, followed by the Edit option, you are presented not only with the Row fields but also with a list of Label Parameters containing Sample fields.
These fields are for you to identify certain Data Item fields within the example Label at the top of the screen. In the example below, we have simply specified that whenever we choose ‘Store Price’ as a Data Item, then the sample data in the label will show as £9.99. This can be seen if we select a ‘Barcode’ as Data Item too as we have specified ‘1234567890’ as our sample data.
This sample data won’t appear on your actual labels but is simply to provide an example of roughly how the label will appear when printed.
You can edit the size of the Label in this menu too, but it is important to make sure the label template matches your physical sized label, or you may experience printing format problems if the template and the actual label differ in size.
You can also state the size of the columns, rows and top Margin.
Adding a New Label Template
If you wish to create a brand-new Label Template,
From within the Labels section of the Admin menu,
- select Label Editor again.
- Click on the New option located to the bottom of the page.
You will be presented with blank template in which you may provide a Name and Reference.
- Enter a Name which you will recognise as you will be using the name of this template later when you choose it to print your labels.
Enter the size of your template in millimetres.
Example: ‘58 x 25’.
You may also state the sample data fields as discussed in the previous section.
Once completed,
- select the Save option located to the bottom of the page.
Once saved you will need to decide how many rows your new label will contain.
- Follow the ‘Rows’ procedure detailed earlier in this section to populate rows

Once you have printed out your labels, you need to tick the box left of the Label request again.
- Then select the Delete option to the right-hand side of the menu for the corresponding Label request

- select the OK option
This is good housekeeping as the label requests don’t delete once they have been printed.
